Escape a creepy nun

Scranny is a horror video game from TreStraal. In this horror adventure, Scranny has locked you inside her house and you need to escape within five days. The house contains various items that players need to find and use to escape and discover the three different endings.

Scranny is a ghastly nun similar to the demon featured in the film The Nun. The game features another villain named Brob, a skinless monstrosity that will hunt you down alongside Scranny. Not only are these designs unoriginal, but the entire game is also just a blatant rip-off of the free game Granny

Gameplay and visuals

In Scranny, players are given five in-game days to find a way out of the house they were locked in. They need to explore the house to locate keys and items that will eventually lead to their escape. The challenge is to do so while evading the two entities that want them dead, Scranny and Brob. Getting caught five times by either of the two means starting over again.

If you think this game’s mechanics are exactly the same as Granny’s, that’s because it is. The game’s title alone is an obvious attempt to ride on Granny’s popularity. It tries separate itself from the original by adding an additional enemy and introducing one new mechanic. Scranny has sensitive hearing but bad vision, while Brob has sharp sight but poor hearing. Unfortunately, these are executed so poorly

This game has better textures than Granny, but that’s not saying much given how that game looks. It doesn’t have a distinct atmosphere and the lack of polish is seen everywhere. Scranny’s model is an obvious rip-off and there’s nothing unique about Brob. Most of all, the developers have the audacity of charging money for a game that steals most of its ideas from a free-to-play title

Shameless and unoriginal

Scranny steals the entire gameplay design of Granny, a free-to-play game, and shamelessly puts a price tag on it. Its half-baked attempt at introducing something new falls flat on its face. It would’ve been just another horror game clone that will go under the radar, but it manages to stand out due to its ridiculous price tag. If you want an escape-room-style horror game, just play Granny.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.
